Across the Corn Belt, warmth lingers across southernmost corn and soybean production areas, including the lower Ohio Valley. Cool air covers the remainder of the Corn Belt, while widespread showers are halting harvest activities in the upper Mississippi Valley and the upper Great Lakes region. Some wet snow is falling in northern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota.
On the Plains, cool, mostly cloudy weather covers the northwestern half of the region, slowing summer crop harvesting and winter wheat planting and emergence.
