The Nebraska Department of Agriculture has reported its fifth confirmed case of highly pathogenic avian influenza.
State veterinarian Dr. Roger Dudley says the small backyard mixed flock has been depopulated and the site is under quarantine to prevent the spread of the virus. A 6.2-mile surveillance zone has been established around the affected premises.
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture is encouraging producers to continue closely monitoring their flocks and implement more stringent biosecurity practices. If any signs or symptoms of HPAI are suspected, producer should contact their local vet and NDA.
