Flinchbaugh: Congress can end president’s trade war authority

A well-known ag economics expert says agriculture has been an innocent bystander in President Trump’s trade wars which he says MUST end.

“Putting tariffs on aluminum and steel was stupid! Period. And it’s had all kinds of ramifications. Countries retaliate – surprise, surprise, surprise,” says K-State professor emeritus Barry Flinchbaugh, “We acted like they weren’t going to do that. Well, they’re not stupid. So, we get the retaliatory tariffs that affect how much we can sell them, we get an increase in the cost of production of inputs, especially farm machinery, when you look at the tariffs that are on aluminum and steel.
