Former Indiana Senator Richard Lugar dies

Richard
Lugar, Indiana’s longest-serving senator, has died.

The
six-term Republican was known for his accomplishments in foreign affairs and
his support of the agriculture industry.

Lugar,
87, was a chairman of the Senate Ag Committee. He served as mayor of
Indianapolis from 1968 to 1975 and served in the Senate from 1977 to 2013.

In a
statement, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb said Lugar was a faithful servant to
the highest ideals in every walk of his life.
