Farmers
in most of Wisconsin now qualify for USDA low-interest loans because of winter
storm damage.
Producers
with property or livestock losses in twenty-four primary counties and 32 contiguous
Wisconsin counties can apply for the loans.
Contiguous
counties that qualify also include Dickinson and Menominee counties of Michigan
and Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Wabasha, Washington
and Winona counties in Minnesota.
Excessive snow, high winds, and extreme cold between January 27th and March 2nd caused several roofs to collapse, livestock deaths, and contributed to a western Wisconsin farmer’s death.
