FSA authorizes emergency loans in Wisconsin, parts of Minnesota and Michigan

Farmers

in most of Wisconsin now qualify for USDA low-interest loans because of winter

storm damage.

Producers

with property or livestock losses in twenty-four primary counties and 32 contiguous

Wisconsin counties can apply for the loans.

Contiguous

counties that qualify also include Dickinson and Menominee counties of Michigan

and Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Wabasha, Washington

and Winona counties in Minnesota.

Excessive snow, high winds, and extreme cold between January 27th and March 2nd caused several roofs to collapse, livestock deaths, and contributed to a western Wisconsin farmer’s death.
