FSA director says cotton seed information being sent

The Farm Service Agency is giving cotton farmers information to help them prepare for the new cotton seed safety net program. FSA director Richard Fordyce tells Brownfield, “FSA will start sending information to producers on current generic base acres, yields and 2008 to 2012 planting history.”

Fordyce says the preliminary information will help cotton farmers figure out what elections they want to make in the ARC or PLC programs, “So, with these numbers there’s going to be a template that will figure some calculations for them and I’m sure that there are some universities that are going to do some of the same thing that are going to help producers make an informed decision as to which elections to make.”

In mid to late July, Fordyce says producers will be contacted and signed up.
