Yields were surprisingly good in many parts of the Corn Belt this year.
Golden Harvest corn portfolio manager Andy Ackley says 2022 was full of challenges, from wet conditions at planting to widespread drought during the summer.
“Really crazy weather conditions, so you would’ve expected to see a lot of yields that were off. But actually this year yields are pretty good.”
Speaking to Brownfield last month during the National Association of Farm Broadcasting Convention in Kansas City, he says one of the reasons crops performed so well has to do with the technology in the seed.
