New data on global food security and nutrition indicates a significant increase in people facing hunger since 2019.
The report published jointly by five United Nations agencies says over 122 million more people have become food insecure the past three years, citing the pandemic, repeated weather shocks, and conflicts including the war in Ukraine.
Hunger is on the rise in Western Asia, the Caribbean, and throughout Africa, which the report says remains the worst-affected region with one in five people facing hunger.
