The U.S. government and all agencies remain open for now. Congress appeared deadlocked Friday with many politicians and experts predicting a Saturday midnight government shutdown, but the U.S. House was able to pass a continuing resolution keeping all federal agencies funded through November 17th. For farmers, that means USDA functions including the Farm Service Agency, the Agricultural Research Service, Food Safety and Inspection Service, SNAP, and Rural Development will function normally, at least until mid-November.
