Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he expects the Trump White
House to release the new EPA Waters of the U.S. rule this week. The new rule, that
Grassley refers to as a fulfilled promise from Trump to farmers, will reduce
federal jurisdiction over wetlands and streams.
“The Trump Administration will set common sense limits on state versus federal
jurisdiction over the waterways,” Grassley told reporters, during a conference
call, “and make it easier for state and local governments and farmers to
comply.”
Grassley says the WOTUS rule proposed by the Obama Administration would have
given the federal government unprecedented overreaching power over most
farmland.
