Grassley expects short-term resolution to avoid partial government shutdown

Another stopgap bill is expected to avoid a partial government shutdown next week.

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley says Congress is attempting to pass individual appropriations bills that necessitate short continuing resolutions.

“Seems to me it would be easy to move the January 19th (deadline) to February 2nd because January 19th isn’t going to shut down all of government, and February 2nd would have that impact in moving it till then.”

Instead of focusing on a specific aspect of the ag appropriations bill, the Iowa Republican says he remains focused on passing a five-year farm bill.
