Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he doesn’t know if his payment limitations will be part of a final farm bill but tells reporters he sure hopes so. The farm bill conference committee met publicly for the first time last week, “All I’ve heard about is this, sort of, grumbling that there’s forty, I think 46 House conferees, and how do you operate a conference with so many people participating?”
Grassley says he believes the Conservation Stewardship Program, which is zeroed-out in the House farm bill, will be maintained in a final bill.
