A final proposal on RFS revisions could be released by the White House this week—possibly as early as today.
A provision to make ethanol exports eligible for RINs—Renewable Identification Numbers—is expected to be part of the plan. But Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says that would detract from the real purpose of the RFS in the first place, “because it was designed and intended to be a domestic energy policy, not an export policy.”
And Grassley says there’s another potential problem with that idea.
