Hay auction started in Missouri to meet growing demand

A long-time hay broker has launched a monthly hay auction in southwest Missouri to help livestock producers source fall and winter forages.  The auction was started by Bill Garrett, owner of Garrett Hay Farm.

Tony Hancock with the Missouri Department of Agriculture says supplies are short. “We’re in a drought, so we know demand is really high,” he says.  “They’re cautious about what it will be when the weather changes. But right now, it’s working out really well for them.
