High healthcare costs remain a major burden for
many farmers.
Minnesota Farmers Union president Gary Wertish tells Brownfield he hopes a solution is being crafted at either the state or federal level.
“The high cost of healthcare is just killing everybody. It’s just not sustainable.”
Minnesota Farm Bureau president Kevin Paap agrees that rising healthcare costs are adding to financial and emotional turmoil among farmers.
“We’ve talked about the poor weather, the low prices, trade uncertainties, (and) just the cost of doing business.”
And Wertish says people are frustrated by the lack of progress solving the healthcare dilemma.
