Heat, humidity and storms for the Independence Day Holiday period

Independence Day 2023 will be hot and dry across much of the country, with a couple of exceptions. 

Notably, locally heavy showers and thunderstorms will sweep across portions of the northern and central Plains and the upper Midwest, trailed by cool conditions.  Meanwhile in the East, widely scattered showers will occur. 

July 4 high temperatures will approach or reach 100°F as far north as the central Plains and western Oregon—but should remain below 70°F on the northern High Plains.
