Heat reduced the corn yield potential in western Missouri

A farmer in western Missouri says the extreme heat and lack of timely rains has affected the corn he’s been harvesting.

“We were sitting in decent shape until July 4,” says Brice Fischer. “We could have been one of the best years we’d ever raised corn if we had received 4 to 5 inches of rain in July.”

Fischer, who farms in Bates and Vernon Counties, tells Brownfield he started harvested last week.
