Across the Corn Belt, degraded air quality due to smoke from Canadian forest fires is common across the Great Lakes region. Elsewhere in the Midwest, mostly dry weather accompanies building heat. In parts of the western Corn Belt, Tuesday’s high temperatures will range from 95 to 100°F. Among Midwestern States, Missouri reported the lowest crop conditions on July 23, with 39% of the corn and 36% of the soybeans rated very poor to poor. Additionally, Missouri led the Midwest on that date with pastures rated 59% very poor to poor, followed by Michigan (44%) and Illinois (43%).
