A Missouri cattle producer says it may be an unprecedented time for farm revenue, but it’s also an unprecedented time for expenses.
“Food, feed and fertilizer are the big three we always talk about and I think that will continue to be the case,” says Josh Worthington.
Worthington raises cattle in southwest Missouri. He tells Brownfield there are many issues affecting production costs and regardless of size, farmers will need to figure out how to control those costs, but…”we also shouldn’t let it dictate decisions and creating value in the business.”
Even in a pending recession, he tells Brownfield if producers can meet a customer’s protein demand, the value created can help offset those expenses.
