The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has confirmed the first case of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the state since May.
MDA says a commercial turkey flock in Meeker County tested positive and 140,000 birds are being depopulated.
The site is quarantined, and the state veterinarian says anyone who has poultry should take this detection as a clear sign to keep a close eye on their flock and initiate the strongest biosecurity practices possible.
