At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures started the week off with solid gains on the strength in the wholesale values. Export beef demand and an improving restaurant performance index also provided support. October live cattle closed $1.10 higher at $109.87 and December live cattle closed $1.42 higher at $114.40. September feeder cattle closed $2.27 higher at $151.72 and October feeder cattle closed $2.70 higher at $151.82.
Direct cash cattle trade started the week off in a standstill.
