At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures closed higher in light activity on technical buying interest. Strong consumer confidence and strong beef demand were also supportive. October live cattle closed $1.52 higher at $113.87 and December live cattle closed $1.65 higher at $118.85. September feeder cattle closed $.42 higher at $157.05 and October feeder cattle closed $1.82 higher at $158.30.
Direct cash cattle trade activity has improved. A handful of trades have been completed in Iowa at $174.
