At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures closed lower ahead of widespread direct cash business. Cash trade has been quiet, but bids are softer. Wholesale beef values have also been lower. October live cattle closed $.65 at $113.22 and December live cattle closed $.27 lower at $118.57. September feeder cattle closed $.25 higher at $157.30 as it nears expiration and October feeder cattle closed $.45 lower at $157.85.
Direct cash cattle trade is still fairly quiet.
