At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures closed mostly higher ahead of widespread direct cash business and support from the steady to firm wholesale values at midday. Weather concerns are also present as much of the country is in for another round of winter weather. February live cattle closed $.87 higher at $127.82 and April live cattle closed $.30 higher at $127.72. January feeder cattle closed $.97 lower at $143.77 and March feeder cattle closed $.05 lower at $144.70.
Direct cash cattle trade has been relatively quiet.
