Chicago Mercantile Exchange live cattle futures were mostly lower on position squaring ahead of the August contract’s expiration and widespread direct cash business. August was up $.32 at $105.07 and October was down $.57 at $99.20.
Feeder cattle were mostly lower on the same factors as the live pit. August was $.20 higher at $138.75 and September was $.92 lower at $132.85.
Direct cash cattle markets were mostly quiet. Light trade was reported at $103 to $104 live in Kansas and $106 live in Nebraska and $172 to $175 dressed in Iowa and Nebraska.
