Chicago Mercantile Exchange live cattle futures were narrowly mixed
ahead of the week’s widespread direct business. August was unchanged at $108.65
and October was steady at $109.90.
Feeder cattle were up on the modestly lower move in corn. August was
$.92 higher at $143.72 and September was up $.87 at $144.10.
Direct cash cattle business was light, mainly in the south at $112 on
the live basis, up $1 on the week, with even lighter business in the north at
$183 to $185 dressed, steady to $2 higher.
