Hong Kong journalist sees shift in Chinese sentiment about trade war

A journalist based in Hong Kong says the sentiments of the Chinese people, regarding the ongoing trade war with the U.S., seem to have shifted in recent months.

Frank Chen, who writes for the Asia Times, tells Brownfield an internal propaganda campaign by the Chinese government has convinced many Chinese citizens that the U.S. is not to be trusted.

“Even if there is a deal this time around, it is the Chinese people that believe America will never honor its own promises made in a trade deal, if there is one,” Chen says.
