House Ag Committee Ranking Member David Scott has called on Congress to extend the 2018 Farm Bill for one year.
Scott says an extension is the responsible thing to do and allows farmers, ranchers, and foresters to operate with some certainty while the Ag Committee continues to work on a bipartisan five-year farm bill.
He says Ag Committee Democrats are committed to passing a strong, effective, and bipartisan farm bill as quickly as possible. But, he says, they don’t want to subject America’s farmers and ranchers to an artificially rushed and haphazard farm bill because House Republicans faced a leadership crisis.
The 2018 Farm Bill expired on September 30th.
