House Majority Whip: “massive failure” if new farm bill isn’t done on time

Pressure is mounting on lawmakers to pass a new farm bill before the current bill expires.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer was recently asked by Brownfield Ag News if he thinks that will happen.

“Well for me, it would be a massive failure if it wasn’t.”

The Minnesota Republican suggests the farm bill is a national security issue.

“A country that can’t feed itself does not survive, so people have to understand this is a top priority.”

Emmer says House Ag Committee chair Glenn “GT” Thompson will put together the best possible bill that hopefully passes long before the September 30th deadline.
