HPAI detected in Iowa commercial turkey flock

A commercial turkey operation in Cherokee County, Iowa has been confirmed with a positive case of highly pathogenic avian influenza.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship tells Brownfield more than 102,000 turkeys will be depopulated as a result of the detection.

It’s the second confirmed case of the virus in the state in the last week. On May 28th, the virus was found in a commercial egg-laying chicken operation in Sioux County where more than 4.2 million chickens were depopulated.
