
An ag economist is not confident in the latest corn yield estimate from the USDA.
“It still will be a good crop,” said Todd Hubbs at the University of Illinois, in an interview with Brownfield Ag News, “but the idea that it’s going to exceed the 176.6 [bushel per acre] record we saw is, I think, a bit optimistic.”
Hubbs expects a lower yield number in the September report because of the short time it took for the crop to mature.
