This is National Agriculture Week but, Illinois Director of Agriculture John Sullivan tells Brownfield he’s concerned the state’s number-one industry isn’t celebrated by everyone.
“One of my frustrations has been the fact that there’s a lot of people who talk about it being the number one industry, but sometimes don’t follow through with actions.”
He says every week presents the same opportunities as ag week.
“I think our bigger goal is outside
of this week and really the rest of the 51 weeks out of the year, is to really
get ourselves out in front of groups and organizations and individuals that
maybe do not understand how important agriculture is.”
Sullivan says there are
72,000 farms in Illinois and farmland covers 70% of the state.
