Illinois crops are off to a good start, despite drier than average conditions.

The USDA reports as of Sunday 95% of corn is planted with 84% emerged and a condition rating of 69% good to excellent.

Soybeans are 92% planted with 76% emerged and the crop is considered 63% good to excellent.

93% of winter wheat has headed and the agency rates the crop 66% good to excellent.  The first cutting of alfalfa hay is 63% complete.
