Illinois crops continue to progress faster than last year

The USDA reports corn silking in Illinois reached 97 percent as of Sunday with a third of the crop in the dough stage, which is ahead of last year. the crop is 82 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans are 88 percent bloomed and 66 percent of the pods are set, compared to 31 percent last year. The crop is 78 percent good to excellent.

Sorghum is 49 percent headed with 61 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.
