A central Illinois farmer says corn and soybeans are at a critical stage as excessive heat lingers in the Midwest.
Ron Kindred of Atlanta tells Brownfield the longer it goes on, the bigger impact it will have on yield. “I’m afraid that our corn is going to start aborting kernels and some of the soybeans are starting to show signs of severe stress in areas.”
He says it was dry when post-emerge herbicides were applied, so they have had to respray some fields.
