Illinois farmer had rain when it was needed

Illinois corn harvest is 93 percent finished, compared to 82 percent last year. Soybean harvest is 92 percent complete.

Western Illinois farmer Ted Mottaz tells Brownfield his yields have been phenomenal.

“We thought last year was good,” Mattaz breaks into a chuckle at the memory, “but this year, for us anyway, we’re very lucky, it was tremendous. A lot of 170s [bushels to the acre] plus corn yields and we had one field of beans go for 82 bushels an acre and most of them were in the 70s.”

After a rare season of uninterrupted planting, Mottaz says things seemed to go well on his family’s farm.
