An Illinois farmer struggled to get the last of his corn out – and almost made it. Christian Dean, who farms in western Illinois’ Adams County, tells Brownfield a strong storm in early October downed a bunch of his corn which suffered from crown root rot, “We assessed it and we decided that we’d be better off going and getting the corn that was standing. So we did that.”
But then, wet weather hit for a month after that, “Luckily, we got a little break there the day before Thanksgiving and I actually finished what I could on Thanksgiving.
