The Illinois Department of Agriculture has announced the return of poultry exhibitions this summer following a ban put in place to curb the spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.
State Veterinarian Mark Ernst says a recent decline in HPAI cases prompted the ban to be lifted, but exhibitors should continue to practice good biosecurity on their farms and monitor flocks for signs of disease. He recommends paying special attention to birds scheduled for exhibition for two weeks prior to the show.
