Incoming storms to bring wanted rain, unwanted wind to Minnesota

An active weather pattern over much of the Midwest could threaten corn waiting to be harvested.

Brennen Toquam of Blooming Prairie in southeast Minnesota tells Brownfield while the forecasted rain is welcome, the potential for strong winds has him concerned.

“Corn hybrids do some goofy things in a drought, and one thing that we do see is they start to cannibalize their stalks because they’re just throwing every bit of energy they have into that ear.”

He recently checked stalk integrity by doing push tests.
