The USDA says Indiana farmers spent another cold and wet
week on the sidelines, unable to accomplish much in the fields.
State Statistician Greg Matli says farmers were anxious to
get their planters rolling, but couldn’t because of water logged fields. He says only a small window of opportunity
for field work opened early last week, and some farmers were able to use that
to do some herbicide applications or tillage.
He says only a few farmers could run planters on sandy ground.
