USDA says winter wheat jointing progress was ahead of the five-year average pace last week in Indiana.
The first crop progress report of the season says 75% of the state’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, remaining stable despite reports of high winds.
USDA says mild weather made for generally favorable fieldwork conditions throughout much of the state. Topsoil moisture levels were rated 78% adequate or surplus.
Other activities for the week included tillage, applying fertilizers and herbicides, and installing tile drainage systems.
