The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association is pleased with the results of this year’s Iowa Legislative Session.
Executive director Bryan Whaley says many of the priorities identified going into the session had favorable outcomes.
“Specifically, foreign ownership of ag land was a big topic as well as that was something I know Governor Reynolds was focused on. We also were focused on trying to think about where the future is going with this whole lab-grown, cell-cultured meat product.”
Governor Reynolds signed legislation that requires any plant-based, lab-grown, or insect-based protein product sold in Iowa stores be clearly labeled as something other than meat or eggs, as well as a bill that strengthens foreign ag land ownership laws.
