Corn planting is close to the usual pace in Iowa.
USDA’s latest weekly crop report says 29 percent of the state’s expected corn crop is planted, 11 days ahead of last year but one day off the five-year average.
Soybeans are 16 percent planted, also 11 days ahead of a year ago and one day ahead of normal.
Oats are 85 percent planted and 29 percent emerged.
There were also reports of cattle being let out to pasture, although pasture regrowth has been slowed by cool weather.
