Iowa’s corn crop is off to a great start.
USDA’s latest condition rating puts 86 percent in the good to excellent category, well above the national average of 73 percent.
Emergence is 87 percent, six days behind last year and one day behind the five-year average.
Soybeans are 94 percent planted, compared to 97 percent a year ago and 87 percent normally. The first condition rating of the season has 82 percent of the crop in the good to excellent category.
