Weather continued to cause problems for farmers in Iowa last
week. USDA officials say much of the
state was unusually dry, but severe storms in east central Iowa caused wind and
hail damage.
Corn condition improved to 64% good to excellent. Soybeans are now 97% planted, with more than
90% of the beans emerging.
The first cutting of alfalfa is about two weeks behind
average with 83% of the fields cut.
Iowa farmers in the northeast had around three-and-a-half
days suitable for fieldwork. West
central Iowa had five days to plant, harvest, or spray.
