Iowa Farm Bureau president does not want crop insurance tied to conservation

The president of Iowa Farm Bureau does not want to see conservation tied to crop insurance in the next farm bill.

Brent Johnson tells Brownfield agriculture is making tremendous progress improving water quality and soil health by using cover crops, buffer strips, and reducing tillage.

“The other side of that though is we want to make sure that those programs stay voluntary.”

He says each producer should be able to choose what fits their farm the best.
