Iowa farmer pleased with 2023 crop, looking ahead to 2024

A southwest Iowa farmer says his 2023 crop was a pleasant surprise.

Ray Gaesser raises corn, soybeans, cover crops in Adams County. “We had a really mixed season,” he said. “We had drought and then rain and then drought again, but ended up with a good crop. It was average or maybe even slightly above. The harvest was wonderful. We had a great team and we even finished early this year.”

Speaking with Brownfield at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting convention in Kansas City, he says work hasn’t slowed down even though harvest is over.
