Iowa farmer’s concerns about germination alleviated

A southeast Iowa farmer’s concerns about germination seem

to be mostly alleviated.

Mitchell Hora of Washington says half his corn and half his soybeans were planted ahead of a recent stretch of damp, cold weather.

“I was really worried until I looked the other day and started digging around. The stuff I was looking at was still coming fine. I didn’t see any signs of disease, so I was happy about that.”

But with nearly five inches of rain the past 10 days, he tells Brownfield there are probably plants under water.
