The recent news that the Chinese government would allow some private companies to buy U.S. soybeans, without paying the 25 percent tariff, raised hopes for increased soybean sales to China.
But Iowa Soybean Association CEO Kirk Leeds, who has been meeting with buyers as part of an ISA trade mission to China this week, questions the significance of that announcement.
“The market right now is not needing U.S. soybeans into China,” Leeds says.
