Iowa Soybean official sees long-term damage from China dispute

Even if the U.S. and China resolve their trade issues, it’s unlikely that China’s purchases of U.S. soybeans will ever return to previous levels.

That’s the view of Iowa Soybean Association CEO Kirk Leeds, who thinks the trading relationship has been damaged long-term.

“I would be surprised if we ever get above 50 to 60 percent of what we used to sell to China,” Leeds says.
